Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 October 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a legal agreement between you and Citely Limited (“Cite”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the Cite platform at cite.citely.co.ukand any associated services. By creating an account, uploading content, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

Cite is a talent-orchestration platform that helps you capture evidence of your work (signals, achievements, Cites) and share that evidence with recruiters and collaborators. We help you tailor a CV to a specific role using the evidence you've put into your Evidence Graph. We are not a recruitment agency, we do not guarantee outcomes, and we do not make hiring decisions on behalf of employers.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 to use Cite.
  • Information you provide at sign-up must be accurate and kept up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • You may close your account at any time via Account settings. See the Privacy Policy for retention details.

3. Honest content

Cite exists because evidence of your work matters more than self-descriptions. In using the platform you commit to:

  • Only post achievements and signals that genuinely reflect your work.
  • Only issue Cites to candidates whose work you've directly observed and want to endorse honestly.
  • Not fabricate recommenders, forge endorsements, or impersonate others.
  • Not knowingly upload AI-generated content as your own without a clear flag — our platform includes AI-content detection to help keep the record honest.

We reserve the right to remove content, limit access, or suspend accounts where we reasonably believe these commitments have been breached.

4. Your content, your rights

You retain all intellectual-property rights in the content you upload (CVs, portfolio entries, Cites you give or receive). By uploading or publishing content on Cite you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, process, display, and transmit that content strictly for the purposes of running the service you've asked for.

The licence ends when you delete the content, except that copies may persist for a limited period in backups and audit logs as described in the Privacy Policy. Shared public links (Signal Cards, CVs) remain accessible to anyone who has the link until you make them private or rotate the link.

5. Our content

The Cite platform, including its design, taxonomy, software, and brand assets, is our intellectual property or that of our licensors. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the platform or any part of it, except to the extent permitted by law.

6. Fees

At present, Cite is provided free of charge in a closed beta/early-access programme. We may introduce paid tiers in future; if we do we will tell you clearly in advance and give you a chance to decide whether to continue.

7. Prohibited uses

  • No unlawful use, including infringing anyone's rights or breaching data-protection law.
  • No automated scraping, crawling, or scraping of our APIs beyond published rate limits.
  • No malicious code, probing, denial of service, or attempts to circumvent security controls.
  • No content that is defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.
  • No competitive-benchmarking use without our prior written agreement.

8. Service availability

We work hard to keep Cite available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We'll give reasonable notice before material changes that affect you negatively, where we can.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided as is and as availablewithout warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, free of malicious code, or fit for any particular purpose beyond what is explicitly described in the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Liability

Subject to clause 9 above, our total liability to you under or in connection with these Terms is limited to the greater of £100 or the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, or indirect or consequential losses.

11. Termination

You may stop using Cite at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we must do so to comply with law, or if we discontinue the service.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. We will post the updated Terms with a new Last updated date, and for material changes we will notify you in-platform or by email. If you continue using Cite after an update takes effect, you accept the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, subject to your statutory consumer rights.
